The Rune Runner Saga
Dennere is a fractured world shaped by ancient betrayals, wars, powerful curses, and the delicate balance of an omnipresent magic known as Prismyr. Once guarded by the noble Myr’ides, this energy source sustained harmony across Dennere until greed, ambition, and violence corrupted it. Now, the land is divided into nine cursed domains, each ruled by witches who draw their power from the corrupted flow of magic. Amid the darkness, Rune Runners—those skilled in inscribing protective glyphs—navigate the treacherous landscape, seeking to defy the curses and reclaim what was lost. At the heart of this broken world lies a struggle to restore balance as the witches seek to wrest what's left into their grasp.
My Story
Hello! My name is Dave and I'm a father, husband, graphic artist, and digital marketer whose imagination has been captivated by SF/F stories for as long as I can remember. I've been deeply shaped by Herbert, Tolkien, Asimov, Clarke, and Orson Scott Card - to name a few of my favorite authors.
The Rune Runner saga began haphazardly as discrete ideas, notes, and scribbles in the margins of my high-school notebooks. I attempted to write the story numerous times throughout my life, but lacked the skill, time, and focus to give it the attention it warranted. I picked the story up again during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, and completed a first draft by 2024. The book underwent a structural edit and revision critique, and it was published in March of 2025.
The second book in the Rune Runner story is currently underway, and I look forward to finishing the work some time in the spring of 2026.
My hope is that these stories might kindle in you the same wonder that my favorite authors ignited in me: a sense that beyond the veil of the ordinary, extraordinary adventures and worlds await those curious enough to seek them.
